Huawei’s self-developed
operating system-HarmonyOS is a new microkernel-based, distributed OS that
expected to be the new lifeline of the Chinese tech giant ecosystem and and
alternative of Google’s Android.
On August 10, 2019, Huawei
launched HarmonyOS (Operating System) inside the Honor Vision TVs, which comes
in pro and Non-pro versions. And similar to EMUI, Huawei has planned to improve
the HarmonyOS through a software update. As recently, Huawei beings providing
the first HarmonyOS update for this TV.
This news brings a change and
improvements in Huawei Video app, Systems, Settings, Smart phones, Smart
connect, Smart Camera, Smart voice, Gallery and more and more.
Honor Vision only available in
China now.
.
HarmonyOS as a Smartphone
Operating System is conjecture at this stage. Thus Far, we’ve only been served platitudes,
so if Huawei wants to builds confidence with developers and consumers, it will
need to share examples, demos and launched services with the operating system
loaded up and they need to be excellent.
According to the Huawei, one
line of Harmony OS code can do the job of 100 lines of Android code, which is
what makes it perfect for devices with small amount of storage, such as
smartwatches, fitness trackers, smart speakers and car dashboards.
It’s also been built with a
lot of better things as if you go from room to room then your video call can follow
you across devices, from TV to a smart screen to a smart phone and finally to a
computer.
Presently, HarmonyOS remains a
TV operating system with a bright future in smart devices, but after 19 August,
the Google and the Huawei partnership will be no more.
With no more access to Google’s
Play Store or Services and with no more security updates. Fortunately ,the
company is able to roll it out to smartphones within 24 to 48 hours, but it
would then need developers on side making apps for it in double time.
Unfortunately, great camera
tech cannot fend off a government set on severing the company’s ties with
Google.
